Day 1 Broken
Hill to Toona Gate The group will meet at Broken Hill then travel up the
Silver City Hwy to Milparinka to view the old Court House. This is followed by
a stop in Tibooburra and then head north to follow the Jump Up Road to Olive Downs
in Sturt National Park which abounds with several thousand kangaroos and emu.
You will cross the border near Toona Gate to make your first bush camp

2 Toona Gate - Innamincka From Toona Gate you cross back into Sturt National
Park and follow the undulating road to Cameron Corner to view the historic corner
marker and the dingo fence. Now take the fun filled roller coaster road to the
west to Merty Merty where you will see some amazing coloured red sand dunes. The
route now follows the Old Strezlecki Track through outback South Australia past
gas and oil rigs. The group will arrive at Innamincka and make camp at Cullymurra
Waterhole on the Cooper Creek.

Day 3 Innamincka
to Arrabury Station Today you head towards Queensland and cross the border
near Nappa Merrie Station and the Burk & Wills bridge. You will visit the
famous Dig Tree and wonder at the tragic circumstances that fell upon Burke &
Wills, Then it is a fascinating drive through more spectacular jump up country
to the sand dunes around Arrabury Station where the group will make a bush camp
for the night.

4 Arrabury Station to Birdsville. The country is now dry, flat and stony.
Suddenly bright red sand dunes appear on the horizon and keep you company for
many kilometers. Visit Cordillo Downs with its huge shearing shed and the ruins
of Cadelga before arriving at the famous outback town of Birdsville. You are booked
into the Birdsville motel tonight and the Hotel for Dinner and Breakfast. A memorable
night in this outback icon is assured..

5 Birdsville to Poeppel Corner. After a hearty breakfast in the Pub you
will visit the Birdsville Museum which is the best museum in Australia. It is
now time to fuel up for the crossing of the Simpson Desert. Then head off to Big
Red for the greatest challenge of the whole trip. Once you are safely over Big
Red, start crossing the 1000 sand dunes of the Simpson Desert. You will cross
the Eyre Creek flood plain and may be rewarded with brilliant wild flowers if
the season has been wet. The group will make a bush camp amongst the sand dunes
near Poeppel Corner for the night.

6 - 7 Poeppel Corner to WAA Line After visiting Poppel Corner where South
Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory meet, follow the sand dunes of the
French Line to the Knolls track. Heading south through the Simpson Desert on the
Knolls Track, then take the WAA Line across the very centre of the largest parallel
sand dune desert in the world. You will make camp in the vast waste land and enjoy
the brilliance of the milky way from the fabulous camp sites.

8 WAA Line to Dalhousie Springs. You will visit the Lone Gum Tree on the
Rig Road and follow the Erabena track and the WAA Line to its intersection with
the Rig Road and then we slowly emerge from the sand dune country as we pass Purnie
Bore and make camp near Dalhousie Springs where we can enjoy therapeutic waters
of the hot springs. This is a real highlight of our trip.

9 Dalhousie Springs to Old Ghan Railway Before leaving Dalhousie we will
visit the Dalhousie Ruins and wonder at the madness that must have driven men
to believe they could live off this desert country. Moving on to Mt Dare for much
needed fuel and then to Finke we will visit the Geographical Centre of Australia
known as the Lambert Centre. We now point the bull bars north as we cross the
oldest river in the world, the Finke, and begin to follow the old rail alignment
of the Ghan Railway. We will make camp along the rail line.

DAY 10 Old Ghan Railway
to Chambers Pillar Continuing to follow the railway line, in places using
the old tracks for our road, we will pass many ruined railway sidings, all part
of history now. On the way to Chambers Pillar we will visit Maryvale Station for
ice creams in the desert and then climb the huge jump up that protects Chambers
Pillar, after negotiating more red sand dunes we arrive at the massive outcrops
of Chambers Pillar and the Castle. Viewing sunset on the Pillar is one of the
many highlights of this great trip.

11 Chambers Pillar to Idracowra Station After watching sunrise on the Castle
we are met by our exclusive Cattle Station guide. Today, with the Station Manager
as our new leader, you will be taken on a journey through a timeless land. You
will marvel at the giant red sand dunes and challenge the fearsome Hell Fire Gorge
and all the time learn how an outback cattle station is run and worked. You are
invited to camp at the Station tonight.

12 Idracowra Station to Kings Canyon Leaving new friends at Idracowra,
follow the station tracks out to the sealed Stuart Hwy and then it is a quick
run into the beautiful green grassed camping area at Kings Canyon resort. Expect
a big party tonight in the local bistro. Inclusions:

13 Kings Canyon You have a full day at Kings Canyon. Time to explore the
Canyon from cliff top to valley floor. The walk around Kings Canyon is one of
the most breathtaking you can take in Central Australia. You might even choose
to charter a helicopter flight over the Canyon for a different perspective. On
the walk you will visit the Garden of Eden, marvel at the beehive rock formations
and peer over 100 metre high cliffs, an awesome experience.

14 Kings Canyon to Palm Valley After two nights at Kings Canyon Resort,
pack up the tents and follow the beautiful Mereenie Loop past Gosse Bluff and
into the spectacular Kings Canyon. There are some great walks to do here, including
Initiation Rock and Palm Valley itself. The group will make camp in the National
Park camping ground.

15 Palm Valley to Alice Springs This is the final day but you still have
some tremendous sights to see. The Macdonnell Range is a kaleidoscope of colour
and no other place depicts this better than Ormiston Gorge. You will spend some
time exploring this amazing location. We follow the range all the way into Alice
Springs arriving by mid afternoon to give you time to settle into your accommodation
(your own arrangements tonight) before the group meets for the drive to Rainbow
Valley. A compliementaray sausage sizzle will be provided for you with the amazing
Rainbow Valley at sunset as the back drop. This is one of the most beautiful places
in Australia and is a fitting place to end our outback journey to the Red Centre.
